For any D&D gamers who have the time and inclination:

Please give me your thoughts on version 4.0 vs. 3.5. What do you like, why is one better than the other, how are they different, etc.

I've just started a new campaign and really don't want to spend the money on a new set of books. Do you think it's worth it? Anything you want to say would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I've noticed that as I get older family becomes more and more important to me.

During my recent trip to Texas I discovered that many of my family are on Facebook, so I've joined in order to keep in touch.

Also, been wondering for a long time why I've run out of things to say on LJ.

But I'm always reading it to keep up with how my friends on LJ are doing, even though I may not contribute often.

Suzi and I will be married June 12 (a week from today!) in a simple civil ceremony at the JP's office. We regret we could not have a big wedding and invite all our family and friends, but you will be there with us in our hearts.

We have also had a bid accepted on a beautiful condo in Montclair. We are signing papers to enter escrow.

So, I'll be a stepfather and home owner for the first time, and husband for the second, last and best time around :)

Wayne Jamison was a mentor of mine during my early twenties. He was a man of great intellect and profound spirituality. He had a great and positive influence on my development. If it were not for him, I never would have come to California.

I wish I'd told you while you were still alive how much your encouragment and friendship meant to me, Wayne. Thank you.

Though it's not a surprise, Suzi and I are now "officially" engaged. That is to say, I gave her the engagement ring this Saturday (though I had proposed a while ago).

We are planning on getting married on March 21, though the date is flexible due to job or other circumstances.

We will be having a a private ceremony in the JP office with Suzi, Michael and I. This is a second wedding for both of us, and we're doing it simple and neat this time.

Needless to say, I'm very happy and very grateful to be involved in a relationship with this wonderful, intelligent, exciting woman. Hard to believe we've known each other for 12 years, yet every day is a new discovery.

I love you, Suzi. Thank you for the joy and happiness you bring into my life.

This has been a bad couple of years for fantasy authors, and now another is gone. Robert Lynn Asprin died yesterday.

This is of particular note to me, as I had a short story published in his shared universe anthology Thieves World (which he created and edited with his then-wife Lynn Abbey).
